The Beaucraft™ Legacy

Beaucraft, known to many by the trademark "Beau," manufactured sterling silver jewelry for 55 years from their Providence, Rhode Island factory.

The popular Beaucraft jewelry line included charms, rings, necklaces and earrings, all manufactured in sterling silver.  Mid-priced, Beaucraft had a loyal customer base and sold its jewelry to independent jewelers and large department stores such as JC Penney.

The company started as a small operation in 1947, founded by Luigi Russo and Ray Sacciccio. Once the company began supplying jewelry to regional department stores the business grew rapidly.  During the late 1980's to early 1990's, Beaucraft employed over 125 people, in addition to 30-35 outside sales representatives.

"Charms were always our best selling jewelry category," states Archie Campanelli, comptroller. Favorites included the mustard seed, gumball machine, carousel, and nautical charms.  "We always had a good line and great clients," remembers Campanelli.  "I have been with the company since the beginning, and now, at 87 years of age, I'm here at the end."

In September 2003, Russo announced his retirement. Many wondered what would happen to the popular sterling silver jewelry line.

"We've been selling Beaucraft for over 15 years," explains Rose Marek, proprietor of Marek Jewelers in Enfield, CT. "We've worked with the same sales and customer service people for years; they were excellent to work with and we got to know them well.  When I heard they were selling the business, I hoped someone reputable would buy the line.  I was happy it was Rembrandt Charms."

Russo wanted to ensure his customers were taken care of by a company with a similar business philosophy. Rembrandt Charms, with its 40-plus year history and solid reputation for quality, selection and service was a perfect match. "Beaucraft has an impeccable reputation that we are honored to continue," said Christopher Lux, founder, Rembrandt Charms.

"Rembrandt is a progressive company.  I am happy they were interested in Beaucraft," said Campanelli.  Rembrandt Charms is providing existing Beaucraft customers with charm inventory and pads.  "By acquiring Beaucraft charms we have made it possible for jewelers to keep their Beaucraft displays filled.  In addition, our new Beaucraft customers will now have the benefit of ordering from Rembrandt's extensive Charm Collection." states Lux.
