My sister shares a part of me That no one else shall ever see. And when the days and miles divide us, the bond we have will live inside us. Together sharing dreams, love and laughter… My sister for always, my friend…forever. — Author Unknown
I have selected to weave this life tale not of my own but that of my dear sister, Helen. It is actually impossible to pay tribute to her in words – or charms – because neither can fully represent the gifted, loving, caring, dedicated, strong, successful, comforting, giving and humble person that she is. But in an attempt to do so, I begin with that lucky day in December when the world was blessed with her arrival (#1580 Insightful Charm with December birthstone). Growing up together, we were inseparable as she played the role of “big sister” – helping me navigate my life journey as my mentor, confidant, problem solver, peacemaker (#1201 Dove), listener, advisor, sympathizer, and number one supporter of all I did (#2957 Special Sister). As our lives evolved we became not only real sisters, but also Chi Omega sorority sisters (#1532 Owl) and then P.E.O. Sisters (#3484 Star). She tirelessly contributed her extensive time and talent for forty years as a Special Education Teacher with her focus being on the developmentally disabled especially those suffering with autism (#3461 Number One Teacher) where she incorporated her love of music and art and touched the lives of hundreds of students. Always a woman of faith (#0541 Faith, Hope & Love), she devoted herself to her family and raised two wonderful children (#3570 Boy & Girl) and now anxiously awaits the birth of her first grandchild (#6130 Special Grandma). In this crazy busy world with all of life’s challenges, this amazing woman has brought so much sunshine not only into my life but into the lives of everyone she meets (#6486 Sunshine). The story of her life is far from complete. There are more lives to be touched, more love to be shared, more good deeds to be done. We live many miles apart now and I would be pleased that a bracelet of these charms would be a constant reminder to her of my gratitude for her life well lived and a wish for her future of continued happiness.
